DC in Cherry Blossom season. I love DC year-round but Cherry Blossom season is when I get to say that DC is truly lovely.
As a teenager in DC, one of the things I remember is seeing Go-Go posters everywhere. The posters used day-glo colors, distinct lettering and imagery that for me became a part of DC's visual language. I learned later that most were created by Globe Poster Printing Corp., a Baltimore print shop. Many of the original posters are now collectors items. In 2011 much of Globe's archives and equipment was acquired by the Maryland Institute College of Art.
This design is inspired by Globe's distinctive graphic style. It's meant to celebrate Cherry Blossoms, Go-Go music and graphic style as part of our shared DC culture.
